    John DeFore The Hollywood Reporter

A compact, effective thriller set in way-rural Ireland, Jeremy Lovering's In Fear makes the most of three actors, a car and a network of narrow roads winding through the woods. show more

    Kyle Smith New York Post

A wicked little horror film in which nearly all of the violence takes place in your head, In Fear expertly builds terror out of not much more than two people driving around in a car. show more

A good ride for the most part, but not much more than a ride; still, genre fans will be keeping their eye out for whatever Lovering does next, with good reason. show more

    Total Film

A taut, chilling little horror-thriller making maximum use of minimal resources to tap into our primal fears of the unknown. show more

    Tim Robey The Telegraph

Writer-director Jeremy Lovering, in his feature debut, keeps a skilful handle on technique — his film is a calling card that could give you paper cuts. show more

    Nigel Floyd Time Out London

Lovering’s taut direction and editor Jon Amos’s skilfully modulated cutting wring the maximum suspense from cinematographer David Katznelson’s multi-camera set-ups, tapping into deep-rooted psychological and primal fears. show more

    Kim Newman Empire

It may be contrived and nothing new plot-wise, but In Fear has atmosphere and enough proper scares to deliver on the promise of its title. show more

    Peter Bradshaw The Guardian

Lovering coolly sticks to a rule often disregarded by horror movies looking for an instant scare: the weird, tense build-up is just as disturbing as the reveal. show more

    Jordan Hoffman The Dissolve

All the pieces are in place for a gripping indie horror flick, but this pointless, motivation-free film just goes around in circles. show more

Jeannette Catsoulis The New York Times

Economical in the extreme — but without appearing cash-poor — this tightly wound thriller proves that minimal resources can sometimes produce more than satisfying results. show more

Actually a pretty good movie. The main intrigue in the film is ********* completely improved and the actors weren't aware of what's coming next, making their reactions honest and believable. While some of the elements are predictable, it's still enjoyable to watch, and the ending stays with you.
