The acting in this movie was superb. Hollywood does speak out on what so many politicians seem to gloss over. After speaking to a Viet Nam vet and a young man who recently returned from Iraq, I have seen first hand the impact of what going to war has done to our soldiers. They may not all come back with the same emotional problems that were seen in the movie, but the emtional scars are there. My heart goes out to them and their families. The movie was very thought-provoking. I would recommend it highly.

This movie is serious first, last, and all the way through. Two hours of slow paced serious drama, period. It's emotionally engaging at times but that aspect depends too much on a mutilated corpse. The audience is being manipulated to sympathize rather than empathize with the characters. As a dramatic commentary on war, I'd give it a B-. As entertainment it's a D. The least the director could've done was to chose a more visually interesting location. Dull, sad, self absorbed.

A totally left wing directors view of the war. Absolute junk...A waste of Jones talent.

Sounds like just another movie the hollywood libs make to take a shot at our military and president.I pay for movies that entertain, not preach. I'll look for a better place for my money.

Saw the movie today--knew it would be controversial since Susan Sarandan was in it--an anti-war advocate---obviously from a Democrats point of view which is why it is being shown on a limited basis in only a few threatres---As a movie itself , it was really engaging--great detective work, especially Tommy Lee Jones-------------A good story that would and could be applied to any soldiers coming back from any war in any time---War changes many who participated in one---Iraq is the war or backdrop for the movie but any war --could have been used in its place--The movie is certainly anti-war with a Jane Fonda flavor to it---But still worth seeing

This movie is too slow and takes too long to tell its story with an ending that seems too pat and contrived. Although Tommy Lee Jones does a great job, Charlize Theron's talents and beauty are wasted in a supporting role that is wanting. When the truth finally comes out, it is revealed in a slightly stupid manner that is not very believable. The movie keeps you guessing, which I like, but disappoints with its answer in the final analysis.

www.michigandaily.com 11/17/03 Parents of U.S.soldier blame unit members for murder. 95% of the country doesn't give a rats butt about the war, the other 5% the military families and the antiwar people are the only ones who really care one way or the other. People get drink or high in Philly every night and kill each other, you turn on the news the next morning that's all you hear. Don't think the war had anything to do with this. Just Susie trying to screw with your brain. People kill each other in our country for walking in the wrong neighborhood.I bet that bar was on the restricted list. If it's the wars fault how come they didn't kill him in Iraq. ALCOHOL!!! duh
