DO I HAVE TO BE A SOLDIER RETURNING FROM THE IRAQ WAR TO APPRECIATE THIS MOVIE? I DON'T THINK SO. I FOUND IT TO BE THIS YEAR'S SLOWEST, DULLEST, BORING MOVIE SO FAR. WHAT A WASTE OF SUSAN SARADON. AFTER 1-1/2 HOURS I LOST INTEREST IN CARING IF THE SON WAS ALIVE, DEAD OR STILL MIA.

Excellent acting and a thought provoking story...that's what "...Elah" is all about. It conveys a message about the bad things that can happen to our soldiers fighting in the war in Iraq; at least, to those that make it our alive! It also sends a message to the world in the last scene, by sending an American Flag up a flag pole upside down! This is an international symbol indicating that, "WE ARE IN TROUBLE!"

You HAVE to see this movie. As Roger Ebert says, " it scalds, moves and heals." If Tommie Lee Jones or Charlize Theron are not nominated for best actor, then something is definitely wrong with the system!!This film pulls you in, wrenches your gut and takes you on a wild, emotional ride!!See it!! You will NOT be disappointed!!

I think this is an excellent movie and should be shown in all the major theaters. It is based on factual situations and in many ways shows the real story behind this Iraq War. This is probably why it isn't being shown in the major theaters because it sends a strong but, true message about G.W. Bush and this war. It's really sad that some people who make these decisions about where these kind of movies should or should not be shown in the major theaters. This movie deserves better publicity!

Same with Phoenix, Arizona... Not showing here either..Sometimes the good movies eventually make it to here, and sometimes they just pass us on by..

I have tried to find this movie in the Atlanta area and I cn't find it playing anywhere--WHY NOT?
