We Americans think of ourselves as the good guys, but war is ugly. We place our young men in horrible situations, and many end up doing horrible things. They lose their humanity and it changes them forever. Though the soldier was murdered when back from Iraq, he is a war casualty and even his murderers can be seen as such. The father realizes America is now Goliath and the country is in distress and symbolizes this with the upside down flag.

Saw the movie today--knew it would be controversial since Susan Sarandan was in it--an anti-war advocate---obviously from a Democrats point of view which is why it is being shown on a limited basis in only a few threatres---As a movie itself , it was really engaging--great detective work, especially Tommy Lee Jones-------------A good story that would and could be applied to any soldiers coming back from any war in any time---War changes many who participated in one---Iraq is the war or backdrop for the movie but any war --could have been used in its place--The movie is certainly anti-war with a Jane Fonda flavor to it---But still worth seeing

You HAVE to see this movie. As Roger Ebert says, " it scalds, moves and heals." If Tommie Lee Jones or Charlize Theron are not nominated for best actor, then something is definitely wrong with the system!!This film pulls you in, wrenches your gut and takes you on a wild, emotional ride!!See it!! You will NOT be disappointed!!

This is a beautiful movie and among the most moving I have seen in a long time. Tommy Lee Jones is a brilliant actor and brings subtle quietness but determination to this role. The upside down flag symbolization is truly dramatic. I can't believe this movie was passed over and that stupid "No Country for Old Men" won a best picture oscar. This was by far a better movie.

The acting in this movie was superb. Hollywood does speak out on what so many politicians seem to gloss over. After speaking to a Viet Nam vet and a young man who recently returned from Iraq, I have seen first hand the impact of what going to war has done to our soldiers. They may not all come back with the same emotional problems that were seen in the movie, but the emtional scars are there. My heart goes out to them and their families. The movie was very thought-provoking. I would recommend it highly.

A well cared for course. The woods lined fairways are very scenic, with enough water and and sand to suit any golfer.\nThe elevated tees and greens (hills!) provide an interesting twist.\nOverall challenging, but very enjoyable.

Paul Haggis, how dare you fly my flag upside down. You piece of ****! Tommy Lee. You are supposed to be a serious actor. Why did you sign up to partake in this mockery of a movie.
