  • Yes, the sets and costumes elicit swoons, but it's the peerless Sondheim score, however truncated, that makes this Woods a prime destination. show more

  • Johnny Depp, in bushy eyebrows, sinister mustache, and a suit and hat of fur, may be too cartoonishly lascivious for his own good as the wolf who pursues the girl in the scarlet cape to Grandmother's house. But then he gets to croon the couplet, "There's no way to describe what you feel / When you're talking to your meal." Delicious. show more

  • This twisty fairy-tale mash-up shows an appreciation for the virtues of old-fashioned storytelling, along with a welcome dash of subversive wit. It benefits from respect for the source material, enticing production values and a populous gallery of sharp character portraits from a delightful cast. show more

ANOTHER TEDDY FLIX MOVIE REVIEW: 'Into The Woods (2014)" GLORIOUSLY ENCHANTING! MORE TWISTS & TURNS THAN IMAGINABLE IN THIS MUSICAL PRESENTATION OF OUR FAVORITE CHILDHOOD FAIRY TALES! A FILM FILLED WITH PERFORMANCES THAT SPARKLE & BEDAZZLE VIEWING AUDIENCES! PLOT: Little Red Riding Hood, playfully shoplifts pastries and bread for her granny from the sweet baker (James Corden) and his wife, who learn they have been cursed with infertility by the evil witch who in turn has been cursed by her own mother for losing the beans which Jack later finds and grows into the beanstalk. Meanwhile, the wicked witch is secretly raising Rapunzel (Mackenzie Mauzy) who has been hidden away from the world but who is also the baker’s lost sister, while at the same time she takes a childless baker and his wife with procuring magical items from classic fairy tales to reverse the curse put on their family tree. On the flip side, Cinderella escapes from her evil stepmother (Christine Baranski) and two evil step sisters and entrances the Prince, but then shockingly can’t decide if she wants to marry him. And then it turns out that the handsome Prince and his equally hunky brother played by Billy Magnussen, are less than charming. REVIEW: Based on a Steven Sondheim stage show, brought to cinematic life with music, this movie's strong point is that it allows our favorite fairy tale characters to cross paths with one another and bring about disappointments and failures, as opposed to the normal "Happy Ever After" scenarios we've grown to memorize and pass down throughout future generations. This Walt Disney Treat has all the big names in ranging from Johnny Depp as the big bad wolf, Meryl Streep as the wicked witch, Anna Kendrick as Cinderella, Emily Blunt as the baker’s wife and Chris Pine as the handsome Prince. Actress Emily Blunt actually has a nice voice if I may boldly point that out. Chris Pine and Billy Magnussen briefly steal the movie away with their hilariously self-pitying lovesick performances while singing a song called "Agony". But Meryl Streep effortlessly earns her 87th Annual Academy Awards nomination for Best Supporting Actress, with Special FX loaded antics and singing that will entice viewers and then blow them away in the same moment. ”Loaded with enough story plot twists and intertwined popular fairy tale stories to keep your eyes glued to the silver screen, "Into The Woods" is TRULY FUN FOR ALL AGED VIEWING AUDIENCES. If you're in the mood for a MPA-PG Rated Rob Marshall directed musical fairy tale that's indeed fun for all, then check out this 4 Star Rated Movie TODAY! --
