Jodie: An Icon is a look at how actress Jodie Foster has become a significant lesbian icon over the course of her remarkable career. Parmar's documentary includes interviews with Jodie Foster fans and queer film critics alike, who provide lesbian readings of some of her most memorable performances as strong female characters. "The real stars in this valentine to Foster are the critics, filmmakers, and just plain moviegoers for whom her star image has been so formative. Foster ought to be pleased with her supporting role," said Patricia White, Swarthmore College.
