I should add, in addition to Gimatti and Linney giving stellar performances, David Morse as George Washington was equally as admirable. The man's been acting for 30+ years, and he deserves to get that emmy he's nominated for.Just my 2c. Love this miniseries!

I was awed by Paul Giamatti's portrayal of John Adams, as well as Laura Linney's portrayal of Abigail Adams. Their performances sometimes brought me to tears, it was that believable. They both showed the "human" side of them and their true love, respect, and admiration they had for each other throughout their lives. I am so happy to see that they both were nominated for an Emmy award, they truly deserve it.

The life and times of John Adams, a leap of faith by imperfect men into the unknown and just as sure a leap of faith by the actors to take on such a challenging role. Mr. Adams, as I can hear Abigail call him, I first read of him years ago but none so telling as the Letters of Abigail Adams and John Adams. How intimate a look of a man whose very words still stirs me and moves me to tears. Yes, he seemed irrasciable and tempermental and impatient at times and an ego that matched that of Franklin and Jefferson and many who sat in the Continetal Congress. I always compare them to having egos the size of our country. I have no less of an ego because I am from Virgina.I have cringed at the idea that anyone could portray John Adams so eloquently and be the humble man who warred with his vanity. Yet, I was stunned and awed by the portrayl of John Adams by Paul Giamatti. So awed in fact as to be moved to tears and grateful that such a man as John Adams had ever existed. Moreover, I am grateful that Mr. Giamatti took such care with the role and brought Mr. Adams to life with all the imperfections and warts and blemishes that most imperfect humans have and won't admit. Also, Laura Linney deserves great kudos as Abigail, my personal favorite first lady. She was ahead of her times and of such a mind and equal to John Adams that I always smile and say they were the original power couple. It will be difficult to ever see anyone else portray John and Abigail Adams nows and not compare them to the stunning and honest portrayals by Paul Giamatti and Laura Linney. Anyone can quote a great line but can they stir the souls of men and women by the same words as uttered by the original orator, I do believe that Mr. Giamatti excelled greatly and did justice to Mr. Adams.
