It's one thing for a romantic comedy to be predictable - they all end at the same destination, after all. But it's quite another thing to be predictable at every twist and turn of the story. show more

Even within the most formulaic of genres, this Cinderella tale is uncommonly predictable. show more

    Steven Rea Philadelphia Inquirer

Michael Elliot, the Philadelphia native who wrote Just Wright as a vehicle for Latifah - and who was on set for most of the shoot - says that Common's earnestness, and eagerness, and his sense of responsibility in carrying the movie, were palpable. show more

The chemistry between the leads is more cozy than sexy, but the biggest issue is Latifah's noticeable - and admirable - discomfort with the rom-com clichés found throughout Michael Elliot's screenplay. show more

That it squanders a terrific cast in the process -- one that also includes Common, Phylicia Rashad and Pam Grier -- makes it all the more disappointing. show more

A film so tightly rigged that even its star's centrifugal charms can't keep you fully checked in. show more

Here Common isn't called upon to do much heavy lifting in the acting department, but he plays well with Queen Latifah. Sure, the movie is a formula. A formula that works reminds us of why it became a formula. show more

The reason Just Wright works is simple. It finds ways to let familiar characters move around inside a familiar premise like living, breathing, likable human beings. show more

A very rare contemporary romantic comedy that doesn't succumb to terminal stupidity. show more

The been-there, done-that nature of the plot doesn't take away from the undeniable sweetness found in Just Wright. show more

I saw myself in this movie as Queen Latifah so much (daddys girl, always just a friend, and love the game) still waiting for my " one I can't live without and him feeling me that way as well. Great teaching tool for young men to see who they should choose instead of who uses them.

I just love, love, LOVED this movie! It is a great African American love story surronding one of my favorite sports. I thought Latifah and Common did an amazing job of showing how friendship can blossom into love.

I love this movie! This movie was simple and sweet! The Afircan American's playing this movie weren't Ghetto and Loud Talking, like so many other movies. Not saying that there is not a place for that in movies, but this was a nice sweet change!

5* THIS WAS GOOD!!! I'M STILL LIVING WITH THE FEELING A WEEK LATER. I WILL GO TO SEE THIS MOVIE MORE THAN ONCE ESPECIALLY ON THOSE DAYS WHEN I'VE HAD A BAD DAY AT THE OFFICE. THIS IS A LIFT. THIS MOVIE HAS THE MAGIC OF THE ROMANTIC COMEDY BAR NONE. IT IS MATURE, NOT PHONY OR PRETENTIOUS, THE CHARACTERS DON'T OVER-DO BUT THEY BRING YOU THERE; THEY ARE BELIEVABLE AND THEY TELL MUCH OF THE TRUTH. GOOD JOB LATIFAH AND CREW.
