    Mick LaSalle San Francisco Chronicle

What makes this film special and memorable is the character of Danny Green, who is not the usual neighborhood hoodlum you see in movies. show more

  • 50
    Steven Rea Philadelphia Inquirer

Stevenson is big and swarthy and not altogether without credibility, but he's got as much charisma as a potato. show more

  • 50
    The Hollywood Reporter

A pedestrian chronicle of an eventful true story. show more

  • 63
    Mark Feeney Boston Globe

The best thing about the picture (unless you like exploding cars, in which case the rest of the movie is just so many interruptions between getting to see all these big old '70s boats going boom) is its proudly hammy supporting cast. show more

    Joe Williams St. Louis Post-Dispatch

Call it "On the Lakefront." Or "Pretty-Good Fellas." show more

  • 50
    Kyle Smith New York Post

If you're in the mood for a clichéd gangland B-movie, though, you could do worse. show more

Stephen Cole The Globe and Mail (Toronto)

A big, bloated, though frequently engaging gangster movie, Kill the Irishman should properly be viewed late night on TV, flipping back and forth between the film, David Letterman and a west-coast ball game. show more

  • 70
    Bill Goodykoontz Arizona Republic

Overall, Kill the Irishman is an entertaining look at a brutal time in an ugly place. show more

    Time Out New York

If Stevenson's performance were equal to his mammoth physique, the movie might have a shot, but even his broad shoulders aren't up to carrying this much dead weight. show more

    Marjorie Baumgarten Austin Chronicle

Talks the talk but doesn't walk the walk. show more

compared to much of the junk hollywood i passing off on us for $8.00 this was an award winner.the fact that it was a very acurate docudrama with archival news clips, showing a much younger brian ross made it a movie that held your interest for the full 2 hours, critics have panned ray stevenson, but i cant think of some one who would have been more suited,,kill the irishman is worth the time and money to go see

I am from Cleveland and thought the movie depicted what happened very well. I'm just sorry they filmed it in Detroit instead of Cleveland.
