I was literally blown away by "La Mission" as I knew hardly anything about this film before renting it on DVD. First of all by the exceptional performance by Benjamin Bratt and also by the boy who played his son. There is also a very fine supporing cast who all come across more like authentic and genuine characters rather than actors. There is a pervading atmosphere
This movie was amazing! It was thoughtful, compelling, powerful... I'm going back to see it again this week. Benjamin Bratt and the entire cast were fabulous. Lots of hard-hitting themes were addressed in the movie, all in ways that drew me into the story more deeply. Excellent movie!
I just got back from viewing this movie with my 21 yr old daughter...I truly enjoyed this film as well as my daughter. Being Mexican, I appreciated the realistic views of bringing the "gay" lifestyle into our family. It was very much how our own families sometimes react to life..sad but true...very powerful movie...I plan on going to see it again with my husband and two other teenagers!
Great People, Great cast, I enjoyed meeting all the actors in the movie, they were great people, and i enjoyed the movie This is Limo Bob saying Hi, to all my friends there. PS Thanks Erika for getting us into the other premeir, your a doll! www.limobob.com

The distinguished cinematographer Hiro Narita ("Never Cry Wolf") captures the hard San Francisco light and the burnished glow of the beautifully painted cars. Unfortunately, this care is lavished on an overwrought, predictable story of an angry ethnic father. Full Review

It offers Bratt maybe his best role ever as Che, a tough-guy neighborhood personality struggling to come to grips with his son's homosexuality. Full Review

Rather predictable in its major plot points and social-issue pleadings, the picture is better suited to cable than the big screen, but nonetheless offers solid drama with nice streaks of humor, warmth and local color. Full Review

The film oozes with authenticity -- sometimes a bit too much so -- and a genuine passion for the gritty, colorful, proud neighborhood that's still a few steps behind the progressive city it calls home (the Bratts grew up in and around the Mission). Full Review

Their heart is in the right place, and their tale is colorful, complete with Indian dancers in ceremonial costumes dancing on a street corner. Full Review
