A captivating good production values for a low budget film and good acting from the main characters and most of the cast, good pace. The story lack... f depth however. it is entertaining , intense and suspenseful thriller and romantic. Luisito the men chararter seems to be bad but in the inside he is a good person. Wandsheep: "Huh, Did this really happen? where?" YES, THIS REALLY HAPPENED IN SANTIAGO, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC---IN THE EXACT CITY WHERE THEY... ILMED THE MOVIE. GREAT MOVIE. TOTALLY LOVED IT. Full Review

Is it me or did the female lead have a thick PR accent? Wasn't she supposed to be dominican? The acting was not really felt by her. And an assasin... for the secret police? Huh? BTW I saw city of God and this was such a copycat version, obvious plagiarism attempts at various parts in the movie? Autobiography? Huh, Did this really happen? where? Did the writer live inside the city of God movie screen. A thumbs down for originality, had potential though, had potential. Full Review

Don't bother. Saw this tonight and it was NOT what I expected. Very disappointed. The acting by many was really bad. Surprising that they didnt... o a good casting job. The lead female seemed as if she was reading in many parts. Thumbs down from Brooklyn. Full Review

Although at times the film gets bogged down in psychological murkiness, the relentless pace and brooding charisma of its star overcomes its narrative deficiencies.Full Review

Made mainly by Yanks and New York-based Dominicans, the vibrant film bursts with local color and trades in very specific aspects of criminality, island-style.Full Review

La Soga moves with a crazed energy that denies moral nuance. But the banal narrative (based on events in Mr. Perez's life) is elbowed aside by Josh Crook's eccentric direction and images that the cinematographer, Zeus Morand, brands with near-poetic intensity.Full Review

There's nothing about Josh Crook's cop saga that will strike you as new, but he and his talented lead do build an epic feel into this gritty tale of corruption.Full Review

A film loaded with interest that somehow fails to be interesting, La Soga is inspired by true events and not much else.Full Review
