Marion Cotillard's performance was astounding. I thought the movie was going to be long and drawn out but the engrossing subject matter and outstanding acting completely drew me into this interesting but heartbreaking story. As an added bonus, the viewer is further entertained by the voice of Edith Piaf throughout the movie.

I loved Marion Cotillard as Edith Piaf. Marion Cotillard was superb, fantastic, and brought Edith Piaf to life. The struggles Edith Piaf over came inher life and her passion to sing till the end of her life. I loved the movie. The cast was wonderful and Edith Piaf's life was heart wrenching. It makes you feel lucky to be raised by parents who were able to care and love you. i want to here Edith Piaf sing her passionate songs every day. She summed it up, LOVE is what you need. Give love, show love, make love, and love with all your heart. We get it Edith.

The settings are beautiful, Marion Cotillard's rendition of Piaf is extraordiary, and the movie creates a tension and emotional impact throughout. The only fault that I found was in the unnecessarily confusing editing.

I was so overwhelmingly disappointed with La Vie. I was an Edith Piaff fan and know the story, but this movie, despite the excellent performance of Marion Cotillard, was a disaster. It was so choppy, disjointed, and we never thought it was going to end. It was flashback, flashback, flashback. Totally underwhelmed!

I didn't expect to see a movie that so overcame me with joy, sadness and whimsy. When the movie was over, there was loud clapping from the audience. The acting was superband I rate it as one of 10 best of all time...and I'm 70 years old. The sad tale of Edith Piaf was only surpassed by her music. Don't miss it!!!!!

The price of admission is worth it just to see the scene of grief and loss of Edith's boyfriend. I was left breathless.Very confusing direction muddles the movie a bit, but, this is a flm that will leave an impact on anyone that enjoys films and not just movies.

Is she eligible for an Academy Award? Her performance was one of the best I have ever seen in my life .... It didnt matter that the movie was in French (with subtitles in English) ... Cootillard's face and emotions were awesome .... they transcended language.I know a lot about the life of Piaf, but this movie cleared up a few fuzzy details ... particularly about her relationship with Marcel Cerdan. On their first date Marcel took her to a NY Deli for Pastrami sandwiches .... the movie did not explain why. He was Jewish .... and that is why she thought it was funny that, back in Morocco, he owned a pig farm. The movie did not go into detail why Piaf always liked to wear long sleeve black dresses ..... that was for visual effect; she was the master of hand gestured. It was a great movie; the flashbacks were "artistic" but not confusing at all .... GREAT GREAT bio .... 5 stars (on a 4 star rating system)A MASTERPIECE

The movie is excellent. I didn't know about her life and hardly anything about her singing career, and came out loving her! For the scenes when the lover dies and the opening at the Olympia, she deserves and Oscar! The movie editing is not that good, making it long and confusing at times, but the story is so rich that you don't care. Go and see it.
