A really lovely film, which harkens back to a pastoral English landscape in the early 20th century. Its length may be a put-off to some. My one criticism is the many blackouts which appear during the course of the action. I think this made the film longer, and one scene could have been cut into the next more quickly. The role of the gamesman was very well done, and it is refreshing to a "regular" guy with a normal physique and appearance play the part. All in all, a very well-done movie, which captivates and holds your interest throughout.

I found this movie a bit amateurish and overly naïve in its approach to filmmaking and story-telling. While the pacing of Lady Chatterley is extremely slow, I did not grow bored with it, mostly out of curiosity about how the directors would go wrong next . . . The fact that it's in French, and that the actors don't act or even *look* even vaguely English makes one wonder what the motivations of the filmmakers really were. It's as if it were filmed with the actors all spoke with Southern accents and talked incessantly about 'possum-shootin' -- too incongruous for words. It'd say it was "fair".

The combination of beautific landscapes and arresting erotism make this film quite visually stunning. However, this version differs in a major way from the book that I read in college. That needn't have been a bad thing, except that the book's lauditory feminist sentiment is diminished by the action of the films main character. This Lady Chatterley demonstrates that freedom may merely give one licence to act on one's own selfish impulses, hardly what I gleened from D.H. Lawrence's lovely novel. It's also a bit slow. Tip: visit the bathroom before the movie starts.
