Larry Crowne is more than a missed opportunity. It's alarmingly, depressingly out of touch. show more

I had a migraine when I started watching Larry Crowne, and by the end, it went away. None of this quite adds up to a recommendation, but it's close. Very close. show more

Hanks directs with assurance. Perhaps if he had teamed with a more agile writer, less given to cheesy yuck-fests, Larry Crowne would be the nuanced adult love story it aims to be. show more

Too cute for its own good, Larry Crowne is nonetheless hard to dislike. show more

It put-puts along like a moped in busy traffic, content to amble around but not go anywhere. show more

Every scene is on the prowl for laughs at the expense of the inherent drama in the lives of its colorful characters. show more

In the early scenes of Larry Crowne, Hanks' Larry is so assertively regular he almost comes off as a special-needs child - grinning into his coffee-cup in the big-box-store break room, he has all the sexual allure of Forrest Gump. show more

The film seems simple and facile at a glance, but these characters and their dilemmas stay with you. These days, any of us could suddenly be Larry Crowne. show more

It's simply an opportunity to spend time with characters who may lack depth but are fun to watch. show more

I loved it Go back to school America and don\'t be afraid to lose your job! Enjoyed every moment of that movie! Tom and Julia are the best and all other actors super!

While there were some chuckles in this movie and Julia Roberts portrayed her character competently,, this superficial, unimaginative and trite movie was shocking in that it was the work of Tom Hanks who has played so many complex characters with depth and reality. In this movie Tom Hanks couldn\'t seem to find his footing--was he a diffident, loser-type guy, a confident, revel in life\'s challenges kind of guy, or a sort of mindless, free spirited type. Either the combined tasks of acting and directing are either too big a challenge for Hanks, or he just doesn\'t have what it takes to direct anything but a mindless, unoriginal and not very good comedy. It\'s a sad chapter in an otherwise brilliant career for this usually inspiring actor. One star is a generous rating for this movie.

Funny, a little quirky and a good film with two major stars. Never heard of it before finding it here but definitely worth a watch!

It was a cute Romantic comedy, kept your attnetion. My husband enjoyed it too, so I would not say it was a chick flick. The acting with Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts is what makes this movie. So if you like them, you will like the movie.

If the character Hanks played was such a producitve employee why would he be canned for not having a college degree? Are there really gangs of junior college kids riiding little scooters and looking for places to eat iice cream? Does Hanks know the Julia Roberts character may be an alcholic? The movie was pleasant to watch but totally unreallistic, but hey, movies are for escape.

This was a miscast show ,the dialog sucked, trying to onbtain a laugh failed, Hanks is too old to play a cutsy student. Roberts acted more like a prostitute than a teacher, has she no shame? Generally it was a waste of my time and a disapointment, time for new talent, the old has beens have to retire.
