Knightley and Canet make a far more compelling pair. As they wander through the city after hours, doing nothing more than talking, they generate the kind of romantic heat that's all too rare onscreen. show more

Last Night is a sex tease, but that makes it sound more exciting than it ever becomes. show more

    Rex Reed New York Observer

Beautifully shot and reeking with style, Last Night is as slow as sorghum; nothing ever really happens. show more

    Kyle Smith New York Post

Suspenseful though it is, the movie is quiet to the point of being sleepy, and Worthington is simply not working out as a screen star. show more

    Wesley Morris Boston Globe

It's the sort of movie that thinks cutting between two different stories makes it art. Usually, it feels like an exercise in art. There's a lot of calisthenics but very little beauty or truth or whatever it is the movie is going for. show more

Stephen Cole The Globe and Mail (Toronto)

Last Night is a New York morality play: A film in love with (lower) Manhattan that is suspicious of real romance. What it lacks is Allen's sense of horseplay; his appetite for lunatic adventure. When you take a bite of the Big Apple, you're not supposed to nibble. show more

Somehow less than the sum of its very impressive parts. Massy Tadjedin brings out the best of her strong cast but all the eyeball-melting beautyon display and the highly polished treatment of the story could have done with a touch of authentic grit. show more

David Fear Time Out New York

Given how prominent the postcard sultriness of her backdrop is compared with the story's emotional ping-pong, all she ends up with is a kinder, chicer Adrian Lyne movie. show more

The glossy Manhattan footage, as hermetic as Woody Allen's rendition of New York, is engagingly expensive-looking at least, but the cast is barely given anything to work with. show more

Last Night is on to something fascinating. It meditates on the meaning of adultery: the purposes it serves, beyond sex. show more

I thought this movie had a good perspective on how a man would cheat on his spouse, which was a more of a lustful sense. And also, the prospective on how a woman would most likely cheat on his husband, which is more of a emotional attachment towards old love ties. All and all this movie had a good combination of actors and actresses to some up a simple, and straight to the point ending.

aka \"Men are Pigs\". Disappointed. Premise of story good. Too politically correct and NY/Brit snobby. BUT! Sam Worthington is turning out to be a pretty good actor.

So well acted and directed. The plot is not very complex but demands introspection. Just really well done.
