  • Most of the time Lockout is pleasant enough, not something to recommend to a friend, but enjoyable in the moment. Guy Pearce has a lot to do with that, as the most impervious action star imaginable. show more

  • Lockout is genre all the way. The film wears its colors proudly, but it also, alas, wears out its welcome. show more

  • Directors James Mather and Stephen St. Leger stage a few good action set pieces, but unlike the 1981 midnight movie classic it imitates, the blandly titled Lockout never busts out of its cheesy concept. show more

Wow this was a great big bit of rubbish. Bad acting and a bad plot cannot be fixed with average special effects. We are supposed to believe Snow is a real tough guy, in the opening scenes he is getting punched in the face with massive blows, about 15 times; nope not a scratch on him. Go ahead and hit your friend like that a few times, see if his cheek bones and jaw aren’t shattered. All of Snow’s silly one liners fall flat and as he ambles through the space jail he just comes off as a bumbling dweeb, not some cool Special Forces dude that can get you out of any jamb. And we are expected to believe that a government that could put a multibillion dollar jail into orbit would have such lax security that one mentally challenged inmate can break loose and free all the prisoners and take over the space jail in about 5 mi
