I read the book, thought the book was good, but not great. It lacked pizazzz. Saw the movie tonight with my husband, and thought the movie was better, but the movie was still so so. People complained here about showing the ending where Marley was put the sleep. I didn't have an issue with it. It is my hopes that people will consider staying with their dogs when they have to go. Some people don't stay with their dogs when they have to put them down, and that is sad. I think it is important to be with them to the very end. And in the movie, the dogs eyes close, which in real life never happens, dogs pass on with their eyes open. So that part was done well. I thought the movie was touching and it is a statement for the great joys of dog ownership, the sometimes frustrating parts if you have a bored dog that rips things apart, and yet in the end, you are crushed when they pass. I walked out of the movie saying, I can't ever imagine being without any of my 5 dogs. I have a 9 year old Doberman, a 15 year old Min pin, and 3 pugs all a year or two old. People, take it easy complaining about the ending. It is sad, and it is a reality that we all face when we love our dogs for years, and one day we have to say goodbye. It is the very unfortunate part of dog ownership. Marley and me could have been a little better, but I saw the joys and realities of dog ownership show through in the movie. A good movie, but would have prefered to see it at early showing prices, or on dvd.

DO NOT SEE THIS MOVIE !!!!!!!!!! I AM A VERY ADVID DOG LOVER-AND HAVE RAISED, TRAINED, TAUGHT AND SHOWN GOLDEN RETRIEVERS FOR OVER THIRTY YEARS. I LOVED THE BOOK-AND WAS EXCITED WHEN THE MOVIE CAME OUT.....WELL...I SAW THIS MOVIE LAST NIGHT, AND WAS HORRIFIED AT HOW THEY RUINED THE BOOK, AND MADE THE ENDING ONE OF THE SADDEST THINGS I HAVE EVER SEEN. I THOUGHT IT WAS TOTALLY IN-APPROPRIATE AND UN-NECESSARY TO HAVE SHOWN THE COMPLETE EUTHANASIA PROCESS....YOU ALREADY KNEW WHAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN-WE DID NOT HAVE TO SE IT FROM START TO END! IT WAS DRAGGED OUT-OBVIOUSLY ON PURPOSE-TO SEE HOW MANY PEOPLE IN THE AUDIENCE THEY COULD BRING TO TEARS.....I LEFT THERE ANGRY-HURT AND UPSET THAT THEY CAN RELEASE SUCH A FILM, MARK IT AS FAMILY ENTERTAINMENT-AND THEN END IT IN SUCH A HORRIBLE MANNER. I HAVE HAD TO END THE LIFE OF MANY OF MY OLDER DOGS, AND HAVE LOST A FEW YOUNGER ONES....BUT NEVER HAS IT BEEN A "SHARE WITH THE WORLD" EXPERIENCE.....IT IS VERY PERSONAL....VERY HARD...AND VERY HURTFUL....THE WRITERS, DIRECTORS, PRODUCERS..EVERYONE INVOLVED IN THIS MOVIE NEED TO KNOW HOW WRONG THIS WAS.....THE ONLY GOOD THING-IS IT HAS NOT BEEN NOMIATED FOR ANY AWARDS...SO EVEN OTHER ACTORS AND NOMINATING COMMITTEES SEE THIS FOR WHAT IT IS....AN EXTREMELY BAD MOVIE!

I took my daughter too to see the feel good christmas movie. If you see the commercials on tv, that is about all the movie has in it to be funny. Dog lovers, and children or people who do not want to go watch a movie feeling sad after don't GO! It was the longest drawn out ending of watching a very emotional experience of a dog dying and putting the family thru torture with every event of the course. I like the actors in the movie very much...but thought how it was advertised was very misleading and unfair to the public. Very hard to watch and upsetting. Again DON"T GO!

I agree with Debbie . This movie was horrible. My aunt suggested that we should see it because it looked like a cute family movie. This was wrong there were suggestive moments. Also DO NOT SEE IT IF YOU HAVE EVER LOST A DOG! It actually shows Marley being put to sleep and it drags on for at least twenty minutes. My mom got up and walked out and people were SQUALLING & SOBBING. No one should have to remeber that pain.

To advertise this movie as a feel good family movie is wrong. My granddaughter (7) and her best friend voted this the "worst movie of all time." I used to feel that I did not have to research a movie that Jennifer A. appeared in to see if it really was a romantic comedy. In the future I will not see her movies the first day they are out. I will wait for viewer reviews. I saw it Christmas Day and still feel disappointed and cheated by the experience.

My 8 yr old son and I read the book and couldn't wait to see the movie....what a mistake! It should be PG-13 for it's inappropriate use of language- (ex- sh*t, son of a b*tch 3x! and more) and the sexual situations were so out of line for kids! My 2 8yr olds don't know what sex is, but it was referenced many times thruout the movie. There's a few bedroom scenes where there's no skin shown, but highly inappropriate for kids to see- I was covering there eyes! And the ending is so ridiculously dragged out and unnecessary. It's too bad that they butchered some of the book- it simply could've been better. BEWARE- NOT for young kids if you care about what you're kids are seeing and hearing!!!
