Latest on Martian Child
The oddest thing happened as I started to watch Martian Child. The movie opens with John Cusack narrating ... or at least it was supposed to be Cusack. But the voice triggered a sense of deja vu: I'd heard it before, but not out of this particular actor's...
As expected, Saw IV continued the franchise's tradition of tearing it up at the Halloween box office, and Dan in Real Life took second place, placating audiences looking for something milder. The only thing that kept me from a perfect score on my...
I'm about a week behind, but I wanted to talk this week about something discussed at the ShowEast exhibition convention, which was held October 13 - 18 in Orlando. That something is onscreen advertising, which I'll get to in a second; first I wanted to...
I haven't looked at the 'funny pages' in years, so I'm not familiar with Mark Tatulli's comic strip Liō. From what I can tell, though, it's a bit like Calvin and Hobbes but instead of a tiger, the kid is friends with macabre figures like the Grim Reaper....
Yeah, I was kind of thinking the same thing after reading that headline: 'Ryan Phillippe? In a Viking epic?' Is someone playing a cruel joke, or is this thin-as-tissue-paper pretty boy really going to try to pull off playing a tough-as-nails Viking? Well,...

As usual John is a great actor especially when acting with a child.
I would like to give you another point of view. My husband and I are in the process of adopting, more specifically the age range of the little boy in the movie. We have recently completed our classes ... and to be honest the movie was dead on in the events that happened. These kids and there are thousands across the US, have been abandoned, mistreated, etc and each and every one of them feels it's their fault they are without a family. So, while the little boy thinking he was a Martin might be a little extreme, it was the little boy's coping mechanism. Why should he be secure in knowing that this was his new home? See the main trick in adopting/fostering IS to stay cool with the kids. These kids will test every limit to see if you will give up on them like there natural parents did; you have to earn their trust. I think all potential parents going through the adoption/foster program should see this movie. For more information on the adoption/foster program, please check out AdoptUsKids.orgSincerely,Ashley M.
