The movie's narrative tension hinges on, well, nothing. show more

When it aims for humor, it feels overwrought and clichéd. show more

Motherhood's litany of complaints and trite comedy-drama comes off as thin, and targeted, as a flyer for The Children's Place. show more

Neither earth-shaking nor profound, but it has considerable charm, thanks to an appealing cast and some sharply witty observations about the pressures of child-rearing in Manhattan. show more

Motherhood doesn't really need a recession to call attention to its flaws. The movie's a perfect dud on its own terms. show more

If Carrie Bradshaw ever trades her Manolos for sneakers and starts blogging about raising children, I pray she wouldn't be as tiresome as the heroine of Katherine Dieckmann's insufferable comedy Motherhood. show more

Thurman is bespectacled again for Motherhood, and it saddens me to report that neither she nor this comedy turns into more than an argument against procreation. show more

The category of this movie is comedy. I didn't think that it was funny at all. There were times when I could have seen it being funny, but it wasn't hunorious to me. More of a life lesson, serious movie. It had good actors, but they couldn't act.

What a wonderful surprise. A sweet, profound, honest look at contemporary life without adultery , drugs or murder. It is really the story of a marriage , with Uma Thurman and Anthony Edwards drifting apart and coming together when it counts. Minnie Driver is perfect as the BGF.
