Remember, Freddy's Dead and they made a movie about it with the same title, "Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare" (1991). But we are talking about the original Nightmare that started it all, "A Nightmare on Elm Street" (1984). I assume that Michael Bay and New Line Cinema, etc., obtained the rights to remake this classic horror film from Wes. However, one should never assume anything. I know that Michael Bay made the TV series, "Miami Vice" into a movie with the same title, but in my opinion it didn't work. He should have let that one alone to the two movies he had already made about the police in Miami, FL, i.e., the two "Bad Boys" (1995) and "Bad Boys II" (2003)" films. Those where awesome. Thank you.

Freddy doesn't rip off his day clothes like some superhero or supervillain and underneath is his trademark sweater and fedora hat. Come on! Robert Englund, Heather Langenkamp, Johnny Depp and Wes Craven will always come to mind when people think of "A Nightmare On Elm Street." I am sorry, but I doubt that other actors and actresses will be able to pull this one off. Wes Craven just has a certain gift when it comes to horror and/or thriller films. They don't have Nancy Thompson's best friend, Tina Grey played by actress Amanda Wyss, Nancy's boyfriend, Glenn Lantz played by Johnny Depp, Nancy's mother Marge Thompson, played by Ronee Blakley, Nancy's police officer father, Lt. Thompson played by John Saxon. The original "A Nightmare On Elm Street" launched the successful careers of Heather Langenkamp and Johnny Depp, especially Johnny Depp's. I am wondering what Wes Craven is thinking about the remake of "his horror film classic."

Riding the coattail of Rob Zombie's success on John Carpenter's 'Halloween' remake, talk was began to go around over 'A Nightmare on Elm Street remake, and to top it off Robert Englund will not be playing the smart- sweater-wearing charred fiend, Freddie Kruger. This really hits me hard because this is the only Wes Craven film I do like and the originality of Freddie compared to the silent slow walking slashers such as Michael Myers and Jason Voorhe
