'No Country For Old Men' may be seen as a meditation on Greek tragedy. Jones is the chorus, always meditating and commenting on the action and the nature of fate, hubris (he calls it vanity) and so forth while ineffectually trying to participate in and prevent the tragedy. Cliff notes to follow. Alan

I'vee seen it twice - had to wrap up some things I missed the first time around. The acting is over the top. Some transitions are not that clear.

This movie was very gay and goofy. I didn't appreciate the homosexual\nsubplot, and decent Americans will object to the typical anit-Bush rhetoric.\nObviously, it was made by Jews.

What is wrong with you people who wrote their reviews below?? The critics are right on about this one. Very exciting movie, good story, well done and good acting. I can't believe all you losers who wrote their reviews before me did not like this movie. What more do you want? Another boring complicated movie to figure out like Michael Clayton?(that was a painful one to watch.) This is one of the better movies I have seen in a long time. I have no problem with it getting "best picture" as it probably was the best one I have seen in the last year......

This was the most violent movie I've seen to date! This non-ending nightmare had some good acting but the movie was totally pointless. It's sad that this life's reality has to be put on the big screen......get enough of that on the news! I go to a movie to be entertained, not for the blood and gore of what this put out!

I could not wait to see this film since it came out and I really expected something great. That might be part of the reason I was so disappointed. I can't even believe it was nominated for best film let alone win. There was nothing great about this film whatsoever, it was better than a typical made film but the story and writing lacked so much. As a film buff I just can't see what the critics saw.

Riveting up until the end..........then a huge "WTF" moment, followed by multiple unanswered questions (I'm sure some were intentional) and a feeling of disapointment. Sorry Joel and Ethan, this one won't make my Coen Bros. collection.

Skillfully acted, brilliant dialog, beautiful photography. The Coan's at their best. Tension raised to a high level from the first scene. Ultimately very boring. Like hearing the same joke over and over.

This is the definition of an artsy movie: Some stupid (artsy def: deep) meaning that barely comes across. If you are a normal person who goes to the movies to be entertained then DO NOT SEE this movie. The most suspenseful part of this movie is waiting for it to get better. My friend said it the best: it is 10 minutes of being really boring, then someone dies, 10 minutes of boredom, then someone dies, 10 minutes of boredom, etc, etc... I wished I was warned that it was like this, as it is really unfair that I spent $12 dollars and wasted 2 hours of my life (that as I get older apparently means nothing) to sit in a movie that purposely is set up so that you barely have any idea of what the characters are doing and why (as this is suppose to somehow help get the idiotic message across)... I am sure that as days pass it will win 1000 awards and be critically acclaimed, as for me, I will just wait for the day when the choices in theaters aren't between a 75 year old man attempting to still play Rambo, and some half @ssed attempt to get a really poor idea across to the viewer.

Just AWFUL! Horrible violence with sickening special effects throughout the film. Everything is UGLY about this non-story chase movie! Several people in the theater walked out early on and I WISH I had as well. After the first 20 minutes it is simply more of the same. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!! Time will tell that this movie was a total rip off and I am sure the Coen Brothers are laughing all the way to the bank.
