Obvious Child is a romcom with a sting in its tail. And Slate is a dynamo, nailing every laugh while showing a true actor's gift for nuance. show more

The pregnancy monologue isn't funny at all, despite cuts to audience members laughing it up. It's a small false note in a movie that's otherwise as honest as they come. show more

The problem is the movie's comedians, who are, to the last, unfunny. show more

If you like HBO series "Girls" with Lena Dunham, then you will like this. Although I am not a prude, I found the lead a little too obsessed with bodily functions that involved farting and pooping, descriptions of vaginas, etc. Primarily found it "unfunny" and crass. Sorry for those people who really feel this way or have to express themselves in this way -- a little too narcissistic for me.

This was the worst piece of S--- I ever saw and I was an agent…I couldn't even enjoy my popcorn….Not a funny moment and the lead laughed at everything she said…and who cared she gets an abortion and moves on with her love life…absolutely nothing good about this waste of my time and money

Just watched 'Obvious Child' at the Angelika in New York City. Enjoyed the film but was expecting more considering the hype coming from reviewers. Jenny Slate was good and carried the film well. But her jokes where very childish and could have been more edgy and honest. Fart jokes only go so far and the film was mostly a therapy session with talking heads. Typical Hollywood formula and set-up butt with the abortion slant. Overall a good film but not the brilliant, groundbreaking film they are billing it as.
