Plot Summary
Pierre (Romain Duris), a dancer in Paris, is forced to stop performing after he is diagnosed with a severe heart condition. His sister, Élise (Juliette Binoche), despite conflicts at work, moves in with Pierre to take care of him. Together they reflect on their pasts and on the nature of love, but it's the diverse cast of Parisian characters they interact with, people with complicated stories of their own, who end up providing the most insight into the siblings' lives.

Klapisch's masterstroke was to place at the center of a movie a man, forced by circumstances, to stop and simply observe. show more

As a whole, though, Paris pulses with a contemporary version of the energy that animated Balzac's novels, or Colette's accounts of the life she observed from the window of her apartment in the Palais Royal. show more

Has a mature tapestry of characters, a welcome sense of humor and, most crucially, a lovely Juliette Binoche. show more

Under-developed story and characters but the actors make the experience pleasant . Average movie. Not hopeful.

Just being in Paris in August it was fun to recognize many of the places. Tho I liked the film, not crazy about it, it was too long, too dark. And I agree about the goofy relationships of older men and younger women. They were not very beleivable. I thought the men were charming. Looks are not everything. And as we all get from the movie. Paris is beautiful and definitely my city of lights!

Pointless, unfocused movie - boring. Just a shoot-from-the-hip, write about whatever drifts into your mind. It by no means showed a cross-section of Paris - on the other hand, the underbelly, immigrants. It does not possess the beauty or sensitivity that you expect in a French movie. There were a couple of beautiful women, but the men were not only unattractive, they had charisma bypasses. Speaking and understanding French will not make this movie more interesting.
