Plot Summary
An example of classic propaganda filmmaking, this documentary was a government-sponsored effort that was created to explain to America's armed forces and a wary general public why the country was entering World War II. The first in a series of films from the Department of War called "Why We Fight," the movie, which aimed to raise public support for the war effort, presents imagery of the fascist regimes in Japan, Italy and Germany, and contrasts them with an American ideal of democracy.
