The plot is as good as crime procedurals get, but the movie is really better than its plot because of the three-dimensional characters. show more
This movie gets better as the years go by. Edward Norton is fantastic, Richard Gere plays the arrogant attorney great, Laura Linney is underrated as a very good American actress, and other great supporter cast members. The only reason for not giving it five stars is that the book is even better.
I saw this movie in an entirely different view.......the movie though done in 1996 is a \"made for TV\" drama.....You also did not give any credit to Edward Norton, without whom the whole movie would be be as you described.....Richard Gere, though is good as a suave, handsome \"Pretty Man\" ,is not an actor that can embody a different personality. He has the same expressions and looks as he did in \"Pretty Woman\" and \"Officer and A Gentleman\".
