A disaster. That says it all. Awful. Rent another Dllinger movie. There are several and all are better than this fictionalized crap. Depp is terribly miscast as are most of the others. Cannot even understand his speech....

If you ever saw the movie "Dillinger" starring Warren Oates, this movie was just sad. It was too long, extremely boring, and looked like it was edited by middle school students. I normally love Johnny Depp, but he really fell short in this role.

First off, this isn't a bad film. I did enjoy it a lot and it kept me riveted for a while. However this "ok" film had the potential to be a Great Film! I was a bit disappointed considering how Micheal Mann is one of my favorite directors but he hasn't done any great piece of work since Collateral and its been a bit too long. Johnny Depp was never one of my favorite actors so I didn't expect much from him. As most actors would do nowadays he does here in "Public Enemies". Take a classy criminal and play it cool. Nothing fascinating but nothing bad either. Christian Bale was a hard person to figure out too. Was he an experienced cop or a tedious character underneath the shooting it was difficult to tell. Overall an interesting shooter film ******* low points mainly were underused actors and it seemed to lack a deep narrative. I didn't feel too compelled nor attached to anybody so I didn't really cared who lived and who died in the end...

I had really high hopes for this film. I was then very disappointed. Much of the film looked like it was from a history channel special or it looked like a camera man following a reality TV character. It lacked score music in scenes where the music would have intensified the thrill. Honestly the gunshots were not a good replacement for music. Also i agree with Normanski7 in that the film didn't go into Dillinger well enough, and sometimes scenes seemed random, out of place, or just had no followup. Depp and Bale were excellent as usual, but the film as a whole left me wanting my money back.

this movie needed a lot of help. Walked in with high expectations, and walked out thinking, Who is John Dillinger. After 2 hours of watching movie all about him, I don't know who he is....Found out morea bout him on Wikipedia afterwards than I did watching the movie.

I must admit to being disappointed.Perhaps due to over hype by media. Depp is OK to good, but the story is a bit wandering, and slow.Too little devolpment of his history and the history of the times i.e the depression and why the public supposedly liked or sympathized with Dillinger His female love interest is rather dull and unappealing.
