Well, I went to the movie (unplanned) with a cousin - she thought she'd like the movie. I didn't expect it to be a comedy and so was not prepared to laugh a lot(and didn't). Although some things said and done were humorous. I didn't like the title. In my opinion, the movie portrayed just another "average" dysfunctional family, overly stressed by one family member who had more issues on her plate (so it seems) then the others. The mother may have been the one who got the dysfunction started. The toast scene for the wedding rehearsal dinner and the dishwashing scenes were way way too long - too much info and not too surprising... I wanted and expected to know more about "why " Kym became addicted since she was already that way before she babysat her little brother. The after-wedding dance with all of the bright dresses, diverse cultures gathered and different kinds of music/dancing and the jubilance going on was a great touch. I feel that this movie is a culmination of what many dysfunctional families go through in their "pursuit of happiness."

Did we watch the same movie? I thought it was great. The L.A. Times review was spot on (and didn't suggest it was a comedy) and, I found the ending honest, hopeful, and not depressing at all. Look at those 12-step scenes. The film style was a bit dizzying, but it's emblematic of the reality of these characters lives. Life and families complex. If you don't like that, watch "Bolt" or other lighter fare. Go see it, BlueOktober.

First of all, if you get dizzy easily, stay away. The movie must have been filmed with a hand held camera and it is difficult to watch. Reminded me of the Blair Witch Project movie which was filmed the same way. The movie takes entirely too long to make its point, which is difficult to find anyway, if it actually has one. Save your money, I wish I had read all the bad user reviews first. I went because the critics gave it such a high rating. On this one, they are wrong for the average movie goer just looking for a worthwhile two hour movie to watch.

Strange movie, not horrible, but not awe inspiring either. Wasn't impressed.

So after reading all these reviews I have come to a conclusion. Sheep didn't like it. I will make sure to rush out and see it.

Thank heaven the doors of the theater weren't locked. Barf bags should have been issued for those forced to digest the raw sewage the professional reviewers passed off as comedy. The theater owners didn't hesitate returning the misspent fees we misplaced on the half of the movie we glared at in disbelief...

While I didn't think it was the worst movie I've seen I do think the critics are reaching on this one. There were about 30 people in the theatre and the common consensus was it was just weird. And many of them were in recovery or had family members who were. The one thought that kept entering my head was, "I wish they would throw those f@*#ing musicians out of the house!"

A film with real artistic merit, but thoroughly depressing. It's been 24 hours since I saw it and the dark cloud is still with me. With respect for the actors' fine work, the various aspects of this story are too common in real life to be thought provoking or entertaining. Putting them all together just adds drama without resolving anything. Thumbs down. Both thumbs.

This was horrible movie! It was a third rate documentry on a VERY sick family. I walked out and got my $8.50 back. Don't waste your time or your money

I am giving this one star only because it is clear that not giving any stars does not get counted in the average. Absolutely the worst movie ever. I not only walked out but was mad at myself for waiting so long before I did. The grotesque rehearsal dinner scene was surpassed only by the dishwaher race scene. This picture had no redeeming qualities.
