  • Solid performances and a literary feel help turn a standard family-rift drama into a dry but saucy narrative. show more

  • Because "Petrol" is so grim, its few moments of repentance and reconciliation don't feel as contrived as they might otherwise; if any film has earned the right to be sentimental, it's this one. show more

  • Hoffs' Dublin appears to consist of stock street footage and a lot of stand-in California, which makes a hash of an exterior scene in which the characters complain about the incessant rain as the sun clearly shines through the damp. show more

The variations of fire and romance mixted with dark humor made the movie a must see. It was relatable, and an overall great movie. I'd recommend it to all.

Well being of Irish desent I really got sucked in on this one... This movie was painful to sit through, but I hung in there hoping it would get better. Sadly it did not... Why can't they find an Irishman to play someone who is supposed to be Irish? That new actress who played the younger sister to Susan Lynch was cute though...

Just caught the trailer for this film and got really excited. The dialogue was super sharp and the cinematography looked beautiful. I even think I recognized a song from Flogging Molly! They posted the trailer on if you want to check it out for yourself. It opens this weekend in NY and LA. Whoohoo!
