This was very well filmed and it made the performance feel more like a movie than a regular performance. It's way different than any filmed... ce I've ever seen. Full Review

The performances are great and if you are a "Rent" fan you will enjoy this. But my main complaint is that NOTHING was done to make this feel like a... "special" performance or a "special" show. Except for some original cast members appearing at the end, this could have been the film of ANY performance. I was outside the theatre during the final performance and there was a MOB of fans outside the theatre singing many songs from the score. It was really a sight to see, and I can't think of many Broadway shows that would have fans of this extreme dedication. Why weren't clips of THIS shown? It would have shown what a cult-following this show had for so many years. I was unfortunately not able to get tickets to the final show, but the atmosphere must have been amazing and the applause must have been insane. But NONE of this comes across in this film. Granted, showing the prolonged applause at the end of every number would have made the film really long. But the point is, even non-Rentheads would have been amazed by the enthusiasm and fan base that this great musical has. Full Review
