According to this courageous, you-are-there documentary, the platoon took enemy fire almost every day, perhaps the longest exposure to combat the U.S. has engaged in since World War II. show more

The film is unusually free of cant and the usual trappings of war docs. There is no voice-over narration and very little dramatic underscoring. Right or wrong, the filmmakers shave matters of political policy and contextual analysis clean off the finished product, which runs a tight 94 minutes. show more

This is not a war "movie". This was filmed during an embedded reporter/writer's time with an active unit in the Valley. The writer wrote an excellent book about what he witnessed which is called "War". Very intense and very honest. No nonsense. No right or left wing insinuations about the war or its execution so don't go in looking for validation of your pro or anti war opinions. Just accept it as a simple and honest look into the life of a combat infantryman.

A super realistic movie showing the true heros and their behavior in our war. No rodeo-drive actors, Stallone, J. Wayne, but young men carring a heavy load in their hands. Too bad these movies do not last in theaters. Some adults saw the true scenes of war and left. Yet, at the same time they enjoy Vampire movies. Best war movie, I've seen.

My son is serving in Afghanistan and I was eager to see Restrepo for the genuine story of what our boots on the ground are going through. It was second only to peeking through the window to see ********* really like on the battle fields of Afghanistan. I'm seeing it again today. HOOAH to our soldiers!

Shows it like it is and what the stress and boredom really does.
