Re "Revanche" -- loved the movie, altho the chopping wood scenes were too long, too often; I prefer flicks wherein the ending is unpredictable, and wherein one learns something. About a brothel, a prostitute who's being pressured to svc only special men; about a love affair, a bank robbery, a death, a childless couple. Well done, plausible; the tale lingers. marie

In what's essentially a six-hander, the casting is aces. All actors turn in fine, naturalistic perfs, but it would be remiss not to remark on 83-year-old Thanheiser's profoundly moving turn as the grandfather. Full Review

The characters and situations are interesting enough, and the filmmaking is sufficiently skilled to provide a measure of reasonably thoughtful entertainment. Full Review
