omg this movie was amazing! maybe it takes being married for a long time to really understand the strains a relationship can go through. . and the storyline was something people can relate to. the acting was amazing. but of course, not something youd watch if you're in the mood for guns and witty one liners. i've heard a lot of bad reviews on it but i really enjoyed it. you can never go wrong with kate winslet and leonardo di caprio.

This movie is soooo horrible. It was very slow and boring. I saw people sleeping in the theater. the entire movie is based around how kate winslet's character is feeling and her character is moody and often annoying. What a waste of my time.

I can't help but to share how utterly impressed I was with this film. After leaving the theater, I felt as though something had changed in me. This movie really strikes a chord, especially if you feel the effects of the mundane repetitiveness of everyday life. DiCaprio and Winslet's performances were hair-raising. I am shocked that this movie was not nominated for an Oscar-- blows Benjamin Button out of the water... more evidence of the ingenuinity of the academy, but it was amazing nonetheless. Much better than Slumdog Millionaire in my opinion. It was raw emotion. You feel something deep inside, when you seen this movie. It gets my academy award.

This movie was good because of Leo and Kate...and the rest of the cast actually. They are both really briliant actors. They did bring great depth to their characters. The storyline itself though is really just a married couple that fights constantly. I think the cast's talents could be better used in a film with as much depth as the actors. And this is a very depressing movie that will leave you emotionally drained, so don't see it on a Saturday night like I did. When my friend and I left the theater, we barely spoke two words to each other before wanting to just go home and forget about all the bad feelings it left us with.

If I wanted to watch a married couple fight, I could have stayed home. This movie left us both in foul moods. Skip it. P.S. I loved American Beauty and was hoping for something along those lines, this just felt like Mendes was grasping at straws in an attempt to showcase his wife's talent. Pass on this one and go see The Reader. Winslet will get her Oscar for that one.

Di Caprio and Winslett do what they can with this banal, predictable plot. The only life comes from Michael Shannon as the insane son of the realtor. Two stars for the two stars...raspberries for the rest!

I thought these two need to use some basic logic and make an alternative plan. A trial vacation to the mecca in France, until a time when it is more do able, was never even brought up. The absense of logic made this whole movie non credible. Don't bother.

I saw this movie when it first came out. It has stuck with me more than most of the movies that I have seen recently, and the new releases have been very good for a change. I loved this movie. I think that both Kate and Leo should have been up for Best Actress/Actor awards for their terrific acting in this film. I have been a huge fan of Leo since seeing him in This Boy's Life, which I would recommend to any Leo fans. Kathy Bates was perfect as their real estate agent. Michael Shannon so deserves his Best Supporting Actor nod for his fantastic performance. The setting in the 50's let me slip back into simpler times. The hairstyles, costumes, vehicles and expressions heard throughout the film brought back fond memories of my early childhood. The subject matter was I am sure depressing for many, but I go to lots of movies, and I always look for a good story and good acting. This movie had both for me.

Excellent movie - A case of undiagnosed Bi-Polar (Kate) - very true to life - I hate you , I love you, touch me - don't touch me, I live with my Bi Polar husband and that was exactly right. Leave me alone! Let's run away together. Totally accurate - many years ago my husband said and did the same thing - let's move to the beach, start over and started packing - we did not move and I was ok with the day to day, he was not. Started taking walks all over - just like Kate - I understood Leo in that scene so well - what do you do? You worry and ask - do you hate me? So Perfect! My husband was later diagnosed with Bi Polar. He still wants to 'get away' but is more realistic now a day's with medication but it still crops up from time to time. This is a reflection of many couple lives wether they admit it or not.
