Beautiful, romantic, funny at times, but above all a very interesting and intelligent concept. Well acted, excellently conceived, and a very good film.
Nice love story.
This movie blew my mind. As I was watching I realized I was totally falling in love with this film. Smart, funny, challenging, even emotionally entertaining. All the while not realizing the subtle enormity of the structure perfectly laid behind scenes. When I realized this had been written by a woman, the same one listed as lead actress and executive producer, Zoe Kazan, the pieces of the puzzle
Wonderful imagination .. Delightful story , delightful characters and even more delightful acting. \"He's a genius\"---NO SHE'S A GENIUS.... Watch out world--- Zoe Kazan has arrived... adoreable, fetching and ooooooooooooooh sooooooooo talented... in front of the camrea--or filling a page with words.
Ruby Sparks, like all great romantic comedies, that's right, I said great, teaches a valuable lesson. In as much as \"The Notebook\" taught us that we cannot help who we fall in love with, this movie teaches that if you try to control things to make them the way you think you want them to be, you end up ruining life. You must live life and accept your love as your love is, not as you

There is a great deal of playfulness between the couple that will touch the romantic in most. Full Review

The fictional premise is used cleverly to illuminate the creative process and explore romantic minefields, and the appealing Ruby Sparks has a low-key, polished charm. Full Review

It often feels as if the filmmakers expect us to be equally seduced by Ruby's wide-eyed winsomeness. That's a shame, as we can sense the deeper film beneath the surface. Because Ruby remains conceptual, this ambitious project lacks the dimension of the similarly meta-minded Charlie Kaufman projects that apparently inspired it. Full Review

Parts of Ruby Sparks are glowing and gentle. Others are harsh. Still others are wrenching. The transitions are expertly handled, never seeming jarring or inappropriate. If the movie feels like two shorter pieces grafted at the middle, that's an intentional decision. The filmmakers give us something approaching a traditional romantic comedy before deconstructing it.
