It's also interesting to see how little screen time the final disco competition really has, considering how large it looms in our memories. show more

One minute into Saturday Night Fever you know this picture is onto something, that it knows what it's talking about. [15 Oct 1999, Siskel Years, p.6] show more

The story here is really secondary to character and milieu, as director John Badham and his actors create a convincing portrait of frustrated 1970s working-class youth and the escape offered by the swirling lights and pulsing rhythms of the disco. show more

Travolta molds what could have been an equally obvious character into a substantial, tragic figure. show more

A small, solid film, made with craft if not resonance. show more

Fever beings to flag when, after an initial hour filled with high spirits and jubilant music, it settles down to tell its story; the effect is so deflating that it's almost as though another Monday has rolled around and it's time to get back to work. [16 Dec 1977] show more

The Definitive New York \'70\'s movie !! What American Graffitti did for the early \'60\'s SNF does for the \'70\'s. I remember the polyester shirts, leather jackets and the neck chains like yesterday. The disco Friday and Saturday nights. A classic movie for the era. Bee Gees and all of it. Gotta Love it!

This movie will forever be the Icon of my generation. I defined who my friend & I were. We lived & breathed the dancing, the look & the style. We lived in brooklyn. Drove the Monticarlos suped up, with fog lights & loud sound systems. We lived to go to the discos on the weekends. We all had the big hair like him using consort hairspray and Paco Rabane Cologne. It created a generation defined by it forever, with the best music to ever come out.

A Travolta classic! never get tired of this movie. His dance moves were phenomenal, even if the acting by the other supporting actors was cheesy at times, HIS acting was superb!
