A great war movie but with some unseen flaws. First: the D-Day landing was a bit unrealistic. The driver of the boat would not in his right mind park his passenger load directly in front of a bunker. Just plainly unrealistic. Second: Spielberg always puts some stupid child element into every one of his damn movies. In this case, the German child and Vin Diesel. Plain stupid. The movie was great, 4/5 stars, and Tom Hanks is one of my favorite actors. If you haven't seen this movie and are in the mood for an emotional spin then pick this one up at your local Hollywood Video/Blockbuster!

this movie was amazing. it was so bloody, but still so powerful and so real. some people might cry at the end of the movie. fantastic movie.

This epic war movie was similar to one other epic war movie...The Longest Day. Both movies were 5 stars in their own right. Wonderfully produced and directed in their portrayal of real men fighting against horrendous odds struggling to survive in a 'real' life and death situation. Oh the humanity of it.....what our fathers and grandfathers endured back then makes our daily struggles pale in comparison. If even one 15 minute segment of either of these movies came close to their portrayal of real action in WW2 then the courage those men exhibited makes my life's accomplishments pale to near insignificance.
