If it's hip to be square, then this racehorse movie is the ultimate in cornball cool. show more

In Secretariat, the fictionalized bits are simple exaggerations - broad, Disneyish adjustments in races and other realities. show more

The true story of the recordbreaking Secretariat is pretty stupendous as is. It didn't need schmaltzing up. show more

    Joe Morgenstern Wall Street Journal

Secretariat stumbles along beneath the weight of leaden life lessons. They're dispensed at frequent intervals by Diane Lane, who does better than anyone had a right to expect, since she is saddled with dialogue of exceptional dreadfulness. show more

The result, if occasionally forced, is also irresistible. show more

Wallace layers on some era-specific meaning to Chenery, who seems to be simply following her lineage, thanks to Lane's quietly dignified performance. Malkovich is more fun, though Laurin isn't as outrageous as the movie thinks he is. show more

An engaging sports movie about the greatest racehorse ever and his female owner who literally bets the farm on his supremacy. show more

What you DO get with Secretariat is a picture that, unlike its bland predecessor Seabiscuit, actually captures some of the thrill of racing. show more

It is a great film about greatness, the story of the horse and the no less brave woman who had faith in him. show more

I loved the movie and the parallel stories of becoming victorius....not giving up. I love that Penny\'s father sowed faith into her & the ability to stand under trial & that is exactly what she sowed into the rest. Secretariat? God made him, and put an extra large heart in his body. I loved it!!!

Truly one of the best movies on horse racing. An ispirational and superbly made movie. Diane Lane and John Malkovich are deserving of Academy Awards for their perfomances. I got goose bumps watching the third leg of the Triple Crown win.

Great movie!!! Being a horse lover, I only wish I was there to witness the real race. I had tears streaming down my face for the final race.... I don't think they could have done a better job. Excellent!!! I'd have given 10 stars.

************ Secretariat for the third time. Would have given it ten stars if possible! What could the critics have possibly not liked about it!?!?!?
