This is both a sad and funny movie. Elaine Stritch is fabulous as the mother and of course Mia Farrow and the rest of the cast (including Diane Weist) are excellent. Mia plays the part of the daughter of a former movie star who shot her boyfriend...taken, I guess, from the true story of Lana Turner. The daughter never really recovers from the trauma and this movie could have been called
