Plot Summary
In a rural Siberian village, the Solomin and Ustyuzhanin families have been feuding for generations, from the time before the Russian Revolution when they were isolated peasants to the industrialized present where they are politicized citizens. Nikolai Ustyuzhanin (Vitali Solomin) grew up learning to steal food from his Solomin neighbors, but then he falls in love with beautiful Anastasya Solomin (Natalya Andreychenko). The discord between families only deepens as the young lovers come together.
