What was so special about this movie, it was just cheap explotationism at it's worst. It looked like reality TV or a cheap soap opera.

I just saw this movie today and it was absolutely fabulous. A tad too violent for me, but the actors were outstanding and the music was wonderful. I don't usually go to the movies (my attention span just isn't that long) but this movie kept me riveted to the edge of my seat. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.

First let me say ,I have no desire to go to India now. the worst scene was when that child jumped into that porta-potty hole, totally grossed me out, then the torture scenes.it was a very different movie expierence, much better toward the end.The movie does make you appreciate being an American.I do think it is a bit too much for younger children to view due to some of the scenes. I agrre--not a sound in the theatre and the funny thing-watching the awards and seeing the kids come out--it had to register that that was jamal's character from young--I was so engrossed in the film that it didn't click it was a separate actor-(the poop boy who ran for AB's autograph)-angain, shows his DETERMINATION, they should start working on another movie that is different, good different music and one that you can sit and watch with out all of the smut

I am happy to see a foreign film win, especially this one. We have Brad Pitt and all the others winning year in and out. This movie is very touching and an eye opener for those of you who have never stepped foot out of your small world and see how other parts of the world are! Brutal, sad, filthy, and loving people. We've gotten to far away from loving people and are too involved with our SELVES. Open your eyes. This movie deserved every award they got. GO SEE IT! Yes is is shocking but worthwhile

I saw Slumdog back in January and I told some friends I liked the movie. They said isn't their poverty in it?? If all you want is puppy dogs go see Disney, this movie is for adults.

PS. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY IN THE THEATER SEEING THIS AWFUL MOVIE....IS A WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME. WATCH IT IN THE INTERNET IF YOU CAN...THE VIOLANCE AND EXTREME -OUT OF CONTROL- CITY AND POPULATION OF INDIA (IN THIS MOVIE) IS BEYOND BELIEVE - WHAT A HORRIBLE PLACE TO LIVE. POOR CHILDREN IF THIS IS HOW THAT COUNTRY TREATS THEM. THEY WANT TO PORTRAY THIS LIFE STYLE? SHAME...FURTHERMORE, IS A SHAME THAT THIS WAS BRAT PITT'S YEAR TO WIN BEST ACTOR AND FOR THIS MOVIE TO WIN AS WELL AND THIS FOREING FILM WITH VERY LITTLE TO OFFER BUT SOME CRUEL REALITY SHOW/LIFE WINS OVER THE GREATEST EFFORTS AND WORK THAT ALL THE AMERICAN PRODUCERS, DIRECTORS AND ACTORS DID LAST YEAR TO BRING US AND EXCELLENT PRODUCT AND WE DID NOT APPRECIATE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ....TOTAL DISGRACE...I WILL NEVER SEE THE OSCARS AGAIN, FOR 20 YEARS I REFUSED SEEING IT, FOR THE SAME REASON AS LAST NIGHT, IS NOT A FAIR AND CLEAN EVENT.
