I'm taking my 2yr old grandson to see the movie tomorrow. I was undecided until I read MisplacedWhispers comments. This is a childrens movie, entertainment. Do you understand that concept? Please tell me you do not have any children. Children learn right from wrong from their parents.

MisplacedWhisper needs a life and some meds. As far as the movie goes, my 5 and 7 year old children enjoyed it. One viewing for me was more than enough, but my kids would most likely check it out again on TV.

misplacedwhisper is the racist one the way she bad mouth christians is the the only truely racist part of her comment. seriously grow up and stop complaining the name ham in the movie is because it was the 1st chimp in space in the 1960's to test the effacts of zero gravity on human because of the close relationship not 2 b racist. I can't believe u complain about racism in the movie do u even know the real meaning of racism and the only reason u call that racist is because u wanted to find racism. Anyway children aren't going tro learn 2 b racist because of a 2hr movie, they will learn it at home if anything and don't tell ppl not 2 go if they want they will take theirs kids to enjoy a movie with a little history and how old r u 15? wow ur stupid

There seems to be some ignorance in the previously written comments. The name of the Chimp is a reference to history. It is sad no one kows the history of the space effort in America. On the day of Janunary 31, 1961, a chimp named Ham was boosted into orbit on the top of a Mercury-Redstone rocket. He flipped levers and toggled switches to help prove that a living being could function in space. He splashed down in the ocean and then lived in the National Zoo. He was kidnapped from Cameroon so we cannot say he was the first American is space but he represented an important step in the technological advances of this country.I am tired of the hysterical knee-jerk of people. Everyone should raise the bar on their knowledge and prevet the misunderstanding that cause us all to pull back from the brotherhood in humanity that God gave us.David

If someone WANTS to find racisim they see it in anything. Get real I agree it is a kids movie and that is all Kids will see when they watch it. Only an already racist person sees it everywhere.

The creators of the animated movie "Space Chimps" are up to some old tricks. Racism is not always overt or blatant. It can be as subtle (or not so subtle to some) as naming one of the CHIMPS HAM?!!!!!! Do not take your children and URGE others not to take their children to a movie where they might just fall in love with a 'harmless' little MONKEY named HAM. I am outraged. You should be too! Why should any group pretend to be oblivious to another group's pain and yet go out of their way to prosper from it? (Most Christians believe that Blacks are the descendants of HAM--a man, not a primate. And how long have fundamentalist Christians believed in evolution? Like NEVER!!!) Enough is enough! Due to come out 7/18...let's shut this movie down before they put that monkey on the shelves for all the kids all over the world to buy! First the "Obama" monkey, now this!!!! I am sick of monkeys AND the monkeys who make them!!! Synopsis: Jeff Daniels, Stanley Tucci, Cheryl Hines, and Andy Samberg lend their voices to this computer-animated comedy following the descendants of the first chimps in space as they blast off for fun and adventure on a far-away planet. Ham III (Samberg) is the grandson of Ham, the first-ever chimp astronaut. This ne'er-do-well chimp may not be the most qualified ape for the job, but a scheming senator (Tucci) has recruited him for a most dangerous mission. It seems that a powerful tyrant (Daniels) has overtaken an alien world, and now it's up to Ham III and his trusty simian crew (Hines and Patrick Warburton) to help overthrow the deep-space despot. Perhaps with some training from Ham III's mentor (Kenan Thompson) and the help of a friendly alien (Kristin Chenoweth) this fearless group of anthropoids can make the universe a safer place for aliens and humans alike. - Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide
