Most fans of the star trek series, who are hardcore nerds and dont want their precious star trek tampered with may tell you this movie is bad because the writers who put together this TREK, take the storyline of this movie in a whole new direction, bending some of the Trek lore, which is where hardcore fans who are so stuck on the details of the series will reject the way this direction is taken. for example, people talk about Kirk not knowing how to drive a car in the 60's trek, but in this movie he suddenly does know how to drive one, this is where the bending of the trek lore begins! For the sake of a fresh start and a new spin on a 40 year old series, this movie beautifully restores the constantly old and paramount-milked STAR TREK name and image. So instead of this being some, half assed, another crap chute Star Trek, this movie does the unexpected, and becomes awfully GOOD! Now the critics (and some short attention spanned fans) may tell you this movie has the issue with the plot not completing itself in the movie, BUT THERE IS A REASON WHY IT DOESNT! Because the story has only begun and the writers have given themselves so much to play with for a sequel that it will take another movie to bring the plot closure that the critics do not see. The concept is genius, and is barrowed from the series "Mirror Mirror" concept. Basically pointing to what happens when you alter what the history of Kirk and star trek, from what we have watched and know growing up, to become something different, the Mirrior image of the star trek universe. You will understand what I talk about when you see it in the movie theather (because it is DAMN GOOD) and understand that this movie opens the door for the unlimited possibilities of an altered timeline and a new story of Kirk and his crew which will be DIFFERENT then anything before! From the first 5 minutes of this movie I was pulled in and it kept going so well, that at the end I enjoyed the trip again that I wanted to go ON AND ON some more! Lots of action, and ships and lazers going PEW PEW and all that, this movie was definately amazing.

I got hooked into paying to see this trash by the high user review rating on this website. Dear Reader, do not let this happen to you, please, and you should probably avoid the rest of the bumper crop of hyperanimated space fantasy movies lately dumped on the market.. The wad on this story was shot a long time ago, and now there's nothing but blanks -- blank faces of actors, blankly hysterical animation whizzing by at lightning speed so you won't have to look at each ridiculous proposition, blankkkkk,,,,,

Awesome movie. Even non-Trekkies will love this one!

Star Trek is a franchise and a living universe. But what they did in this movie was tear it up and start with a brand new fresh universe and made all other star trek movies and shows, irrelevant (Except for possibly Enterprise). Although the movie was visually stunning and it had a good story, it nonetheless made me feel cheated from experiencing what i felt was the true Star Trek Experience.

OMG!! I was a trekkie growing up and I absolutely loved Star Trek. I loved this movie. The best thing about it was the end, When Captain Kirk walked into the bridge and Spock came in and the music started. It gave me chills because it's like that is the beginning of the Star Trek series and you see the whole crew. I loved it!!!!!

Well I thought the movie was excellant. I am a little tired of the same story line, but as it appears to be usefull for new Star Trek movie options, I'll live with it. Make sure you sit at least a row or two past the middle row so you can see everything that is going on. Great movie!

As a long time Trekker myself i must say they did this sooooo well! I mean ok so the story line does exactly follow Trek History ( in some parts) but the fact that some dudes (Nimoy and Nero) went back in time and now stuff has changed has allowed them to basically start fresh without other Trek Fans not getting upset if they don't follow Trek history. Also they did a great Job at setting this up for non Trek fans to understand like my Girl was surprised she could understand the movie.
