One of the worst movies I have ever seen. Incoherent nonsense. Anyone who gave this movie a good review is doing it out of spite. They just want you to waste two hours of your life like they did. The movie earned one star for the fight scene at the end. If you like action then the last 15 minutes is worth a look. watching the whole movie is pointless.
This movie was pretty bad.
It was an ok movie....
hated it.
reviewed original prior to seeing 2011 remake.,, liked 2011 version MUCH better, Character of Charlie was actually likable. Skarsgard is outstanding & a great actor. Woods should win oscar. Marsden's character more likable than Hoffman in original. Actually wanted the agressors to win. suspenceful even knowing what would probably be happening. Will see it again today . then wait for

Though competently crafted, Rod Lurie's wholly unnecessary 2011 remake is a film with few notions of its own, and representative of its time only in the commercial sense that home-invasion thrillers are now more prevalent at the multiplex. Full Review

Mr. Lurie's movie does not quite succeed on its own, though it is pulpy and brutal and at times grotesquely comical. The story does not cohere, and the performances are uneven. But as a piece of film criticism - as a conversation with, and interpretation of, an earlier film - it is intriguing. Full Review

Rod Lurie's heated but empty-headed remake re-creates the original's trudge toward savagery but can't re-create its social context - and doesn't bring anything new to the table. Full Review

It fails as a gripping home-invasion thriller. Full Review

Does Lurie have an ax to grind? And how. Yet if, to some ears, its high-pitched whine nearly drowns out the underlying story at times, why did so many in that preview audience seem deaf to it? Maybe that's Lurie's real point: A culture that feeds on violence -- in real life and on film -- has also inured us to it. Full Review
