The entertaining new film from Sony Pictures Animation is a nice surprise, and the rare mainstream American kid film. show more

First they marched, then they tap-danced. Now they ride the waves on souped-up boards. It really doesn't matter what stunts they try to pull off: Who can resist an animated mockumentary in the style of "This Is Spinal Tap" starring the black-and-white big birds of the moment? show more

Not only are LaBeouf and Bridges terrific, but Jon Heder is hilarious as surfing fowl Chicken Joe. And Zooey Deschanel is saucy fun as penguin lifeguard Lani. show more

The voice performances are great, particularly those from LaBeouf and Bridges, who's in a "Big Lebowski" mood. But a moratorium on penguin movies may be in order. show more

A cheerful and frequently amusing bit of nonsense, which certainly will provoke children into giggles. The film does not measure up to "March of the Penguins" or "Happy Feet," both Oscar-winning efforts. Nor is it trying to. show more

A cut above the noisy, pop-culture joke-larded norm, and it's much more than a "Happy Feet" knockoff. show more

The most colorful of the penguin 'toons to date, both figuratively and literally. show more

If you have to see one penguin movie, this is it. show more

Surf's Up is that rarity in a children's movie, a comedy that's actually exciting. show more

I sat the whole movie waiting for it to get better, but it just kept saying cheesy lines! I hated having to put my kids through that horrible movie!

I thought this movie was going to be another happy feet, but I was suprised, I actually liked it better than happy feet, I thought it was really cute, pretty funny, and I would go see it again! GREAT FAMILY MOVIE!

Go watch any surfing documentary out there, "Riding Giants" "Step into Liquid" etc., and you will understand why the movie is in an "interview style." I thought this was a good movie!

This movie had a format of an interview, which made us leave the theatre less than 1/2 way through. What a bummer dude. It would have been a cute movie, but the interview throught the whole thing really sucked.

How can you like this movie? No Funny Parts. No Plot. Stupid Chacters. March of the peguins and Happy Feet look like 5 stars compared to this.

I took my 6 year-old to go see the movie and she had a good time and also had a few laughs from it. I thought the characters are cute but I think I had enough seeing Penguins movies.
