I enjoyed the first half of this musical story and it's quirky characters but the fun ended when he began cutting the throats of everyone who came into the shop. I wish I'd walked out at that point but, because it had been so highly praised by the critics, I waited around expecting it to regain it's rationale and get better. But that never happened. Nothing was resolved about the young lovers who would normally have been the saving grace of all the bloody insanity. The whole thing just went directly to hell, blood flowing like Niagara Falls.

I am a big fan of musicals and Depp but aside from the lousy music the dumb story and all the blood this was the worst movie I have seen in my 65 years.I wish I would have walked out but I kept thinking it has to get better but it didn't.Budley

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street completes the evolution of the "urban legend" of early nineteenth century England to a musical fit to delight Charles Manson! This is on strange but artistically captivating film but not for those who are too squeamish. See my full review at johnhuntspace.com and click on movie reviews.

Sweeney Todd was the darkest, most gruesom and bloody movie I have ever seen. The settings, acting, and costums were all done very well but I would not reccomend this movie.

This movie was amazing. I went to see it with my mom and then i went to see it with my friend for a second time and it just seemed to get better. Now, my mom wants me to go see it again with her because her birthday was two days ago and that is what she asked me to do for her!!! So i guess third times the charm, itll just keep getting better. By the way Johnny Depp is such an amazing singer and so is Helena Bonham Carter. Tim Burton did and amazing job also. I love Johnny, no one else could have played this role.

Im not really into musicals but I thought this was a good film. Tim Burton did a good job and Depp had a good voice. The cinamatography was beautiful!!! The film reminded me of classic horror film and I liked everything about it.

I am a movie fan and I also love and see several musical plays a year. I hated this movie. After about an hour I walked out, and this is very unusual for me. The singing was good, so that is not the reason. No plot, very dreary, absolutely nothing interesting for me. I must say one thing. I do not like horror movies at all, and I hate scary movies even less. I go to the movies to be entertained or moved deeply. Maybe this is why I hated this movie so much!

I couldn't take this movie seriously. The second Johnny Depp started singing I was laughing... In that aspect it is a VERY AMUSING movie. The plot however was lacking in my opinion. The idea for the plot wasn't bad, but the way it was enacted left something much to be desired. I felt parts of it were unbelievable, and many of the characters lacked development. I also felt parts of the movie were somewhat predictable, such as the ending. Leaving the movie I had the feeling I had just sat through a weird spin-off of Edward Scissorhands. Definitely not one of Tim Burton's best. All in all, if you want to be amused, and you have a stomach for gore, you'll probably enjoy it.
