    Mick LaSalle San Francisco Chronicle

Most of this huge-cast extravaganza is a botched farce. When that doesn't work, it turns sentimental. The presence of liked and familiar actors helps make it watchable, but there is no disguising that this is a weak, badly constructed comedy. At least it's short. show more

Forced, formulaic and never believable. It's a particularly unholy combination. show more

No one is bad in The Big Wedding, but no one is remotely believable, either. show more

The Big Wedding lets them all down with bottom-rung sitcom shtick and an undercurrent of squareness masquerading as absurdity. show more

    Todd McCarthy The Hollywood Reporter

The fact that the three actors who do most of the fooling around — Robert De Niro, Diane Keaton and Susan Sarandon — have a combined age of 202 pegs this as a sex romp for the Viagra crowd. show more

Zackham's film feels as plastic as a cake topper — and just as hard to digest. show more

The rare example of a film that had to have been a tonal mystery to everyone involved for the entire process of scripting, shooting, and editing. The lingering issue? They never managed to crack the case. show more

    Roger Moore McClatchy-Tribune News Service

Coarse, crude but often cute, The Big Wedding serves up the spectacle of its title, and the bigger spectacle of four AARP-eligible Oscar winners cursing like sailors. show more

There’s not a bad performance in this movie. De Niro, Keaton and Sarandon are particularly good, what a surprise. But it feels as if all the guests at “The Big Wedding” are wearing ID tags telling us their one Plot Point. show more

Rented it this past weekend and I must say it is one of the worst movies I\'ve seen in a long time. Totally stupid and unbelievable plot. Can\'t believe actors of their caliber chose to appear in this film. It all seemed very forced. I didn\'t laugh once. Don\'t waste your time.

Yet another insidous attack on Judeo-Christian values, Hollywood just loves to mask with \"comedy\". Can\'t they come out with something amusing and wholesome? I\'m about ready to give up on movie-going. Such a great, talented cast to be wasted in such a v ehicle!

A better name would be The Big Poke since everyone in the wedding party has \'poked\' each other even the Mother of the Bride and the Mother of the Groom - the adopted son\'s sister gives a \'********\' to his brother under the table at the rehearsal - are you getting the picture?

No, this is not a great movie but if you go in with low expectations, relax, and enjoy the movie for exactly what it is, silly low brow comedy performed by a very good cast of actors, you will find yourself laughing out loud quite a bit.
