"The Brave One" seems to begin as a good Jodie Foster movie, a good performance goes to great after awhile, but you can see the predictable outcome of all these type moves, then the last 20 minutes the predictable plot goes wild and the ending will put you on the edge of your seats. 5 stars!
As usual, Jodie Foster's performance was nothing short of astonishing. She commands the screen as very few can -- or ever will. Brilliantly acted, there is nobody I can think of who could have played this role as convincingly and perfectly as Jodie Foster...

Don't be fooled. The Brave One, though well cast and smoothly directed, is just as crude and ugly as you want it to be. Full Review

If only The Brave One had captured more of the complex nature of the fear and paranoia plaguing society since 9/11. Instead, it is a well-made but predictable take on the revenge fantasy thriller, with a female twist. Full Review

Not since "The Crying Game" has Jordan crafted as compelling a motion picture. Full Review

The drama is repetitive rather than resonant, an over-calculated, under-ventilated studio production -- even paranoid thrillers need to breathe -- whose plot machinery grinds grim and coarse. Full Review

Foster's pistol-packing turn as an avenging dark angel nearly sustains director Neil Jordan's grim vigilante drama through a string of implausibilities and occasionally trite psychological framing devices, with deft support from Terrence Howard as a sympathetic cop. Full Review
