I think it was good they could have made it a little more action but it's good. The graphic they used and stuff. Then when the cars and electronics stopped told all the questioners in the theater why it was called the day the earth stood still

The most boring movie of the year. Should have just stayed home and taken a nap. At least the theatre seats were comfortable.

Amarino711 Wasted 110 minutes watching this piece of dreck. More holes in the plot than Finlandia lace swiss cheese. At least Keanu was cast correctly. His emotions range from dour to dour and back again. Thank god they only gave him about a dozen words of dialog. More than that and you catch him "Acting". The whole universe decides to wipe out human kind. A kid crys,, a step Mom hugs and the plans get changed. WOW what power! If I would have heard, "We can change, give us a chance". one more time I think I would have vomited. Well at least John Cleese got a paycheck. Where's Michael Rene' when you really need him.

i totally agree with CDALLEN, and SPOOPERFLY, waste of time and money!!! when i first saw the camercial i said i had to see this BUT i'll take that back!!! i could have spended my mula on something better like music for my i-pod shift!!! I HATE THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL!! PEOPLE WHO HADNT SEEN it ,dont,ITS A PIECE OF s**t !!!!!!!

The Day the Earth Stood Disapointed........ We watched the previews and waited for a fantastic remake with reeves as the star... We received a story that barely resembled the original and without the use of the name could only be consided on its own, a B rated hollywood mistake. Although the effects are high in caliber, i recommend a "wait for the dvd... no, rephrase that... wait for the netflix download" on this one.

I drove an extra 40min. to see this in imax and what a rip off, at the end was watching the creidts to see if Al GORE had something to do with this tree hugger gone sci-fi movie. Too bad you can'nt have negitive stars for the rating.

This is not a movie for kids merely looking for action, noise and thrills. Great script, strong message, would be even better done in a more subtle way. A lot of quiet messages, a few good one liners as well: "This body is going to take some getting used to." I saw the original when I was 12 and this re-do is as good or better than the original - should give people something to think about. Not to mention great entertainment! Bravo Keanu! Perfect.

What a waste of money! The acting is horrible and the script ridiculous. I guess it's just Hollywood political ideas. They overestimate man's power over the Earth. We can't "destroy" the earth, much less all life on Earth. We can only destroy ourselves and our ability to live on the Earth, right?. Klaatu should have destroyed this movie and done the universe a favor. Or maybe this movie shows we are too stupid as a species and should be wiped out.

I think this movie is getting a bad wrap. We saw it at IMAX, the special effects are excellent, the story is solid, and engrossing. Yes, Keanu Reeves acting could be called into question, but he is portraying an ALIEN. I dont think an alien acting like Jimmy Stewart or Tom Hanks would work. He is sort of distant, and otherworldly, and it adds to the mood well. The premise of the movie is also good, the perspective being given from the point of view of an ultra powerful extraterrestrial civilization that wants to save the Earth from US is excellent. The Robot was kind of dissapointing, the original Gort was much more menacing. And the end was kind of abrupt. But all in all its not a bad film. Judge for yourself, the critics arent always right, they gave Star Wars a "C" when it came out.
