The right amount of over the top stereotypes coupled with a brilliant performance by Cohen make The Dictator one of the funniest comedies of 2012. Please Sasha, continue to expose the ridiculous prejudices and preconceptions we all harbor with your amazing comedy.
Gold, as always with Sacha. Laughed the entire time!
Much !!unny!!!
A crude and sophomoric film, deliberately offensive. Sascha Baron Cohen has a dedicated following but I don't get it.
I thought this was a hilarious film, ********* not for everybody. I overheard an old lady tell another old lady that she'd like to tell somebody she hates to see it so they'll have to suffer.

That potential is mostly squandered in The Dictator, which gestures halfheartedly toward topicality and, with equal lack of conviction, toward pure, anarchic silliness. Full Review

San Francisco Chronicle
The Dictator's over-the-top rant against the rank lunacy of authoritarianism deploys comedy like an act of violence; it's outrageous, quick and leaves us breathless, whether from laughter or shock. Full Review

Even amid the hit-and-miss broadsides and laugh-free longueurs that comprise most of The Dictator, Cohen's acute hypocrisy-detector keeps on ticking, if barely. Full Review

By turns hysterical, heretical, guilty, innocent, silly, sophisticated, teasing and tedious. Full Review

USA Today
After laughing at crudely funny scenes in The Dictator, there's a cringing sensation of guilt. Full Review
