From the Emeralds doing "Acapella" to Davi himself taking the lead on "So Much in Love," The Dukes is damn near impossible to resist. show more

About the kinds of showbiz hangers-on seen in the background of a Scorsese movie, and it feels like those guys decided they were the real stars. show more

    Frank Scheck The Hollywood Reporter

This mildly engaging comedy drama has enough quirky charms to compensate for its rough spots. show more

After starting with a lackluster introduction and a by-the-numbers heist sequence, the film concludes with an upbeat and appealing final act that recalls "Big Night." show more

    Kyle Smith New York Post

The bickering and mishaps make for a semi-enjoyable if low-impact film that may appeal to the kind of nostalgics who buy Time-Life collections of '60s songmeisters. show more

    Joe Leydon Variety

With Davi and Chazz Palminteri fronting a first-rate ensemble cast, and a tasty soundtrack of golden oldies, this unpretentious indie dramedy has much to recommend. show more

Davi's heartfelt performance makes for a winning solo, but the movie too often lacks harmony. show more

Stephen Holden The New York Times

Plods along in its sloppy, joshing way, it tastes like pasta sauce that has sat on the shelf long after the expiration date on the can. show more

The Dukes could use more music and less sap, but it's refreshing to see a film about the problems of working-class men on the far side of middle age, struggling just to get by. show more

I hate everthing, but I like this film. I can releate to what the characters are going through. It is just like America today, people struggling to survive, and these guys really make you feel it. It is funny and it ends on a high note. Great actors great story the only thing it lacks is huge shoot outs, foul language, massive CGI fx and a crappy story. So if you like the kind of junk that the sudios feed you with a spoon then you will hate "The Dukes" if you like really cool heartfelt drama with some great laughs then you will love this film.

I liked it. It reminded me of Bronk's Tale. A picture of that time in the 50's and the thinking thereof. A story of those Italian neighborhoods that thrived at the time, or at least in our perception being from the west coast. We can all, however, related to the story. I will recomend it to my friends.

I disagree ENTIRELY with these other user reviews...I found the movie to be charming and heartfelt with a great story and lots of laughs. I'm a big Robert Davi fan and usually only see him playing tough guys, but this was a nice change of pace. I recommend seeing this one - you can't get the songs out of your head.
