What an inspirational film. I remember the events as they were unfolding and can recall that we all mourned for the loss of Ernie Davis, a man of character and courage, and most importantly a man the nation could be proud of.

Same old, same old! Why is it the Black people can never have their lone hero? Why is it a good white man has to be at the forefront of all their heroes? Jackie Robinson had one. the Negro leagues was [dis]integrated by whites. The Ali movie had to show Howard Cosell as such a good friend. American Gangster showed Russell Crowe more than Denzel Washington. Why not just descend to the lower coaching levels, where the coaches are all Black who truly develop these A-A, superstars? In white hero movies, A-A's are all but invisible--except when you show them as bellhops, cabbies, waterboys, baggage-handlers, janitors, etc.

I was at SU in 1960 when team was # 1 . It was a great time. Ernie Davis would have played next to Jim Brown. That would have been unreal. Ernie Davis untimely death has been a lasting memory. Go"Cuse". and high to all the BEPs . Bob C.
